A Legacy of
Love and Service
Little did Paul Anderson, a young man newly located in Lake Jackson in 1950 and son of a Lutheran minister, know the impact his actions would have on Lake Jackson. It was Paul who was the instigator, going to ask permission for a mission church in Lake Jackson and who pulled together that group of 58 to form Christ Lutheran Church. Seven decades later, the church is still living our mission to Worship, Learn and Serve as the hands of Christ.
Families still remaining at Christ Lutheran whose parents were among the original charter members include Don White, Betty White Massey, Patty Kopycinski Northam, Dorothy Koenning Rayburn, Lorin Rayburn Furlow, Chance Furlow, Hope Furlow Lavender and a fifth generation from the Koenning family, Holden Lavender was recently baptized at Christ Lutheran. What a wonderful legacy the parents of these members left for their children and grandchildren. What really makes the history of a church? It is the people who build the church.
